At Abbey Communication we recommend accommodation in private homes. This provides about 20 hours of conversational practice in addition to your course. We guarantee a warm welcome, friendly support, and good food. Our location in a small country town means that we know all our hosts personally and can therefore find the right accommodation for you. Many of our hosts are within easy walking distance of our training centre. Others are a few minutes away by car. Your hosts will meet you at the train or bus station and provide daily transport if required. As part of our quality control we have regular training and information meetings with our hosts. We meet with our families regularly to update them on our needs and get their feedback. Our host families are integrated into our quality system and our small town location means it is easy for us to know their interests and lifestyles. This close collaboration with our host network ensures a warm welcome and effective support for course participants. All our hosts have come to us through personal recommendation, building up a very solid pool of experience. Selection begins with a personal visit from ourselves, which allows us to present and explain the guidelines which form our “contract” with hosts. We bear in mind that hosting is a personal activity, but at the same time we apply rigorous quality control, with a questionnaire at the end of each course which is fed back to the hosts. Periodically we review all questionnaires to monitor our progress in improving satisfaction. Hosts meet participants on arrival; they provide daily transport; they are available to talk to participants morning and evening, and often propose visits to friends or weekend outings. We believe comfortable and friendly accommodation is an essential contribution to our courses.
